Worship Team Leader – Ministry Description

FaithPoint Lutheran Church is looking for a Worship Team Leader, who has the ability to develop and lead our Worship Ministry. This person must have a passion for Jesus, a heart for worship, the desire to work as a part of a team and administrative abilities.

Purpose:
We are looking for a committed Christian leader who will give leadership to the worship ministries at FaithPoint and coordinate the worship experience, under the direction of the Senior Pastor, in order to assist in fulfilling our vision and mission.

Vision:
Our vision is to provide dynamic contemporary worship in such a way that inspires and grows a loving personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Mission:
Elements of carrying out this vision include, but are not limited to, planning, creating, and preparing dynamic worship. This will include recruiting, equipping and developing musicians using a variety of musical selections that result in a harmonious and reverent time of worship.

Relationship:

  1. Have a visible and living relationship with Jesus Christ and model a desire to follow Him.
  2. Have a passion to worship God and see others be drawn to worship Him.
  3. Meet with the staff to coordinate ministries and participate in Worship/Service planning.
  4. Be able to work harmoniously on a team with musicians, vocalists and other leaders.
  5. The Worship Leader shall be responsible to and hired upon the recommendation of the Senior Pastor.
  6. The Worship Leader shall be a resource person and staff consultant with all those working in worship or music related programs or activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Share his/her faith in Jesus Christ through the ministry of music and worship.
  2. Organize the Worship Team (keyboard, drums, guitar, bass and other potential instruments) to create a dynamic worship experience on Sundays.
  3. Arrange for worship-related funerals, weddings, and other special event needs (Holy Week, Christmas, Confirmation etc.).
  4. Secure special music for Worship services as requested and needed.
  5. Introduce and teach new songs and music to the congregation.
  6. Coordinate other elements of worship service with other leaders to enhance the flow, dynamics, and theme in worship.
  7. Engage the gifts of lay members by recruiting and motivating them to serve and share their gifts of music and the arts in worship. Encourage and participate in further training for yourself and team members as opportunities arise.
  8. Have a working knowledge with the use of multimedia, sound and AV technologies to enhance worship to be able to communicate and coordinate with technology leaders.
  9. Become an active member at FaithPoint Church and commit to its vision and mission while promoting growth in numbers, spiritual maturity, and participation. Be present and participate in most church worship services and special events.
  10. Meet with staff to coordinate ministries and participate in Worship/Service planning.
  11. The Worship Leader shall be responsible to and hired upon the recommendation of the Senior Pastor.
  12. The Worship Leader shall be a resource person and staff consultant with all those working in worship or music-related programs or activities.

Qualifications:

  1. A clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ, and a visible disciple of Him, modeling a desire to follow Him.
  2. A passion to lead worship to God and see others be drawn to worship Him.
  3. Strong ministry gifts and good people skills – engaging, warm and inviting. Be able to work harmoniously on a team with musicians, vocalists, and other leaders.
  4. Have an understanding and respect of both current trends in worship as well as liturgical structure in worship. Appreciation for contemporary worship music, hymns and traditional sacred music.
  5. Working knowledge of the technical aspects of worship (sound, video display, video capture, streaming, etc.) to be able to communicate weekly needs with technology leaders.
  6. Worship/Ministry degree preferred.
  7. Ability to lead vocally, and from guitar or keyboard preferred.
  8. Experience with Planning Center and Proclaim preferred.
  9. Possess leadership gifts that include: team building, communication, planning, and organization.
  10. Ability to initiate and maintain supportive relationships and a Christian lifestyle that can serve as an example to others.
  11. Have a teachable, humble spirit and be one who loves to learn and seek ways to continuously improve.
  12. Biblical literacy.

Compensation:
This is a part-time position of about 10-15 hours per week with the flexibility of working some hours from home. Pay will be commensurate with experience. Possibility of an expanded role if gifted in other areas of need.
