Confirmation Final

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY FAQ’S – April 30, 2023

What should I wear?
All students will be given a Confirmation Gown to wear over their clothes. Gowns have been purchased by the church, so there is no cost to you.  We expect you to treat these gowns with care, especially with the zipper, and take care not to spill anything on them. The gowns are white, zippered up the front, with ¾ length sleeves and hanging a few inches below the knee.  For boys: a collared shirt and dress pants work best under the gowns. Girls: a dress, skirt, or pants. Please no flip flops or slides. Gowns will be collected immediately following the service.

Where and when do we get our gowns?
Gowns will be handed out prior to the church service, starting at 1:20 p.m.  Students – please come into the sanctuary when you arrive to get your gown. Please have your gown on and be ready to go at 1:30 p.m. as we will be taking a group picture at that time. We ask that family members wait in the Fellowship Hall until the picture is taken. This picture will be uploaded to our website and available for download. The sanctuary will then open at 1:40 p.m. for seating and Confirmation students will go to Classroom A for a quick review of the service and line up for the processional. We will process into the sanctuary at 1:55 p.m.

Where will we sit for the church service?
The first row of the Sanctuary will be reserved for the Confirmation students. The rows immediately behind that will be reserved for parents, siblings and baptismal sponsors. Please have any additional family and friends sit towards the back of the sanctuary.

How do the parents/sponsors participate in the service?
The Rite of Confirmation will follow the offering (after the sermon). All students will come forward together for that. We will then pray for the students by group. At that time parents & sponsors can join upfront as we lay hands on the students and pray for them individually.

What happens after the church service is over?
Students will recess during the last song to the Fellowship Hall. Once everyone has exited the sanctuary students should come back into the sanctuary to take any additional pictures and return their gowns. Please return your gown before eating or drinking anything! Everyone is then invited to the Fellowship Hall for cake and coffee.

What should we do now that we are done with Confirmation?
Join the HS youth group on Sunday nights from 6:30-8:30 at church. We’ll eat together and have fun as a group through games and other outings, read and discuss God’s Word together, and pray for one another.  We will take yearly winter and summer retreats with the goal of strengthening student’s faith and equipping them to serve God in what He calls them to!  We will also attend other fun activities such as apologetics conferences, service outings, beach days, and bonfires.
