Many years ago, the great preacher, Charles Spurgeon, said, “God does not need your strength: He has more than enough power of His own. He asks for your weakness: He has none of that himself, and He is longing, therefore, to take your weakness, and use it as the instrument in His own mighty hand. Will you not yield your weakness to Him, and receive His strength?”
Maybe Paul had something similar in mind when he wrote to the church in Corinth, “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”
Join us in worship this Sunday as we learn the story of Gideon and the important lessons God teaches a man who thought of himself as wholly unfit and unqualified for the work of God.
