If you have ever been called to do a task that you didn’t hasten to undertake, you can put yourself in the company of a number of Biblical characters. Think Abraham, Noah, Jonah, Moses, people in the Bible who questioned, stalled, agonized… and then followed the commission given them by God. What was the defining factor that brought about their obedience? Was it personal logic or softened heart? Or was it, ultimately, faith in their God in whom they trusted?
Pastor Henry Gereke was a chaplain during WWII. As the war ended and the Nuremburg Trials began, he was commissioned to minister to Nazi war criminals who were to be judged for their crimes against humanity. He acknowledged that this was the call over which he prayed the most difficult prayers of his life. He knew that there were those who would judge him for this ministry to people of abhorrent crimes. He also knew that the charged, as all sinners, would soon be judged by their Maker, the final and ultimate Judge. And he knew this. Christ himself had commissioned him to be an ambassador, an authorized representative for Christ. It was to Christ that Pastor Gereke answered.
Join us for worship this Sunday to hear the commission that is for every Christian. It is the Great Commission given in love to forgiven sinners to “Go and Tell”. Sunday worship is at 9:30 AM and FaithPoint’s campus is located at 1051 270th St. W. New Prague. Live Streaming available at 9:30 AM. We look forward to welcoming you!
