The whole idea that we can manage time is really a misnomer. We can’t really manage time. We can’t delay it, speed it up, create it, save it, or lose it. I suppose we could manually stop a clock, but no matter what we do, time keeps moving forward at the same rate.
The real challenge is not to manage time, but to manage ourselves. Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days aright, O Lord, and so apply our hearts to wisdom.”
The Bible uses another word. Instead of managing our time, it speaks of “redeeming” the time, which is a better idea. Paul writes: “Be careful then how you live—not as unwise, but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” Ephesians 5.
