Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 12, 2024
This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and we’ll talk about motherhood and serving. The two words are not unrelated.
It’s not easy being parents today. One mother was talking to an old college friend and said, “I remember before I was married, I had three theories about raising children. Now I have three children and no theories.”
Motherhood can be difficult and at times very discouraging. To all those who have sacrificed and served and prayed and loved. Thank you for modeling the love of Jesus.
In the Bible, there is a story about the mother of the “sons of Zebedee” making a request of Jesus to reserve the two best spots in the kingdom for her sons. The story captures the deep love of a mother wanting the very best for her children. Jesus denies her request and tells of a better way.
