There were two men named Caleb and Joshua. They went on a mission to check out some land their people were going to live in. This land is known as the Promise Land, a place flowing with milk and honey. Except other people were already living there, big, scary, ruthless people. Joshua and Caleb weren’t the only two who went on this mission. There were ten other men. When they all came back and reported to the rest of the Israelites, Joshua and Caleb were in the minority. The ten other men were terrified of the giant people that lived in that land, even if the land truly was flowing with milk and honey. But Joshua and Caleb trusted in their God and believed in the promise God had given all the Israelites. They tried to explain to everyone how God would protect them and give them what he had promised them many generations ago.
I want to live like these two men and not be worried about what the crowd is doing or thinking. I want to trust that God is so kind, gracious, loving, and so much better than what this world can ever offer.
Join us this Sunday and discover with me how I learned, and am still learning, how to get used to living a life that looks different from those who don’t know Jesus. Join us also to discover how God responded to the actions of these two brave men.
