There’s one question that has the potential to cause more harm in relationships than any other. “What’s in it for me?” Selfishness infiltrates the human heart. It’s a malady that makes the Black Plague look like the common cold. No other infirmity has caused more death, destruction or claimed more lives than rampant selfishness.
Selfishness is the foundation of all conflict. It is the cause of war, crime and discord. Jesus teaches another, higher way, that of humility. Humility, not selfishness, produces satisfaction in life. When we live in humility, wars and conflict will cease, assuming all parties participate.
When Paul describes the Christian life, he describes relationships not with the typical inward- bent, but for us to have the same mindset as Christ Jesus … who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
Join us in worship this Sunday as we look what the Bible says is the solution to Selfishness. FaithPoint’s Campus is located at 1051 270th St. W. New Prague. Live Streaming available at 10am on Facebook or on our website.
