As we make our way through the Gospel of Mark, we come to a passage that is really the epicenter of the whole gospel. It begins with the confession of Peter when someone finally identifies that Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah, the Anointed One. And yet despite Peter’s famous confession, he still does not understand what being the Messiah really entails. Jesus didn’t come just to be an amazing teacher, healer or miracle worker. He came as the Lamb of God to … rescue us from that which we cannot rescue ourselves.
