Ash Wednesday on Sunday
Ah yes … because of the doozy of a winter blizzard predicted, we’ve decided to cancel Ash Wednesday services and celebrate Ash Wednesday this Sunday (Feb. 26). The beginning of Lent is too important to “cancel”, so instead we’ll just delay it a few days. Ash Wednesday is supposed to kick off the season of Lent, so instead of the 40 days of Lent, this year, we’ll observe the 36 days of Lent!
On Sunday, I’ll be talking about why we put ashes on our forehead in shape of a cross and what it means for our life today. The smudge, or imposition of Ashes will be offered during both Sunday services (8:30 and 10:00 AM). Provided the snow eventually stops, the full worship team will be present to lead this special Ash Wednesday-like Sunday service.
