I remember watching the Olympics one year and there was this long-distance runner who was leading the race and had been for some time. But in the final lap, he stumbled and fell. Talk about frustrating! All of his years of training toward winning
the gold went down the tubes in one final lap.
This Sunday we read about Moses in the final stretch of leading the Israelites to the promised land. But instead of following God’s leading, he goes his own way and seeks glory for himself. As a result, he loses the opportunity to lead God’s people into the promised land.
