I used to have a sign in my office that read, “If the love of God has touched your life, then please inform your face.” It was a little cynical, but it also reminded me that we are supposed to live the redeemed life. I would often chuckle when I’d see it and I loved its simplistic truth.
This Sunday, Jesus will teach us how the true measure of a person comes not from the outside, but from the inside. For the internal affects the external, and the exterior reflects the interior. It is usually the nature of the inner person that determines the behavior of the outer person. In other words, it is a matter of the heart. Jesus is not impressed with religious ritual or tradition; rather He is concerned with the condition of our hearts.
