This Sunday we’ll hear two short teachings from Jesus where he will contrast what the true gospel is, compared to that which the Pharisees were teaching. As usual, Jesus will use illustrations from everyday life, like grain, wine, wedding guests and the sabbath. Though the Pharisees and even his disciples will mostly not get it, Jesus will teach that walking with God isn’t about following a list of rules as much as it is joyfully living in a newfound freedom born of grace. The gospel that Jesus talks about isn’t offensive for who it keeps out, but for who it lets in.
We will also celebrate Father’s Day and have a special treat for dads.
