I wonder sometimes if we worry too much about offending others. I’m not talking about inappropriate name-calling, the hurling of unscrupulous slurs or intentionally offending others. I’m talking about living our lives constantly being afraid of who we might offend, like when we walk on eggshells.
If there was one thing about Jesus’ style of teaching, it is that he wasn’t afraid to offend. He never offended for effect, or to sensationalize. But he wasn’t afraid to offend to make an important point or serve an eternal purpose. And for that, we can take our cue and be eternally grateful.
